Amelie Benicio was born in San Francisco and soon moved to Paris, France, where she spent the first half of her young childhood. She later moved to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to spend time with her family on her father's side. Eventually Amelie returned to the Bay Area California until graduating high school. She now attends UC Santa Barbara. Amelie is a well travelled story teller, She loves art, writing and activism. She is motivated to connect others in a positive way through her creative voice. She has won several awards for her work including Best in Show, Youth and Arts Contest, 2019; 2nd Place, Marin County Art Fair, 2019; Blue Ribbon Award, Marin County Art Fair, 2019; 3rd place, Marin Arts Youth Poster Contest, 2019; Scholar Athlete, Girls Water Polo and Swim, 2020.
"I mainly create my work in oil paint or acrylic paint, although I also enjoy working with charcoal and pencil. Recently, I have also been explore instillation and sculptural work a lot. My work explores the complexity and beauty of human nature and the many layered stories that people’s faces tell. As well as how powerful our imaginations can be in the context of our realities and fantasies. " |
